Specialist Program of Dermatologi dan Venereologi

The existence of Department of Dermatology and Venereology is in accordance with the development of Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University which was established in 1962. To guide clinic-level students (semester VI – VIII) and final year students (Co-assisstants), clinic-level courses, including Dermatology and Venereology, are necessary. To realize that, with the spirit of high dedication and responsibility to the development of the Faculty of Medicine of Unud, in 1971 the Head of Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Faculty of Medicine of Unair/RSUD Dr.Soetomo, Surabaya, Prof.dr.Ibeni Ilias, and dr.N.Wirya Duarsa who was still taking specialist education, opened Dermatology and Venereology Polyclinic in Wangaya General Hospial. At that time, they used the hospital’s garage. Courses were conducted by Prof.dr.Ibeni Ilias by commuting back and forth form Surabaya. After dr.N.Wirya Duarsa finished specialist education in 1971, courses were conducted by dr.N.Wirya Duarsa. Afterward, Department of Dermatology and Venereology grew with the increasing number of staf. In 1974 dr. Suteja Rana returned from studying in Surabaya, however he passed away due to illness not long after working in the Department.  Dr. IGA. Sumedha Pindha has become a staff since 1976. Afterward, dr.Made Bratiartha was employed in 1978, dr.Made Swastika Adiguna in 1979 and dr. Made Wardhana in 1980 with the growth of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology. Dr.IGK.Darmada was employed in 1984, dr Luh Mas Rusyati in 1988, and the late dr. Tjok Putra Pemayun was appointed as an adjunct lecturer in 1988. Then, in 1994 dr.AA.GP.Wiraguna was employed as a staff and dr.Gd.Agus Nusantara in 1997.
To prepare specialist education, in 2002, dr.Made Sudarjana,  dr.P.Laksmi Anggari Putri Duarsa, dr.Endang Sukrawati, dr.K.Kwartantaya , dr.IGA. Praharsini and dr Herman Saputra were appointed as adjunct lecturers. As Sanglah Hospital is a referral hospital and teaching hospital, in 1988 the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Faculty of Medicine of Unud in Wangaya General Hospital moved to Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, to adapt to the master plan for the development of Faculty of Medicine of Unud and Sanglah Hospital.
